Keyin College staff and students raise $14,000 for Young Adult Cancer Canada during 34th Anniversary Celebrations!

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE – St. John’s:  Keyin College is proud to announce that during the month of March, staff and students raised $14,000 for Young Adult Cancer Canada by participating in the Shave for the Brave.  In honor of its 34th anniversary (March 17th), students and staff collected donations, ran fundraising events and one business class used the opportunity to run a not-for-profit business dedicated to raising funds for the effort.
“We are really proud of how this was both a community and an educational effort by our staff and students”, said Des Whelan, President of Keyin College.  “Our College community came together in support of this great cause, as part of our 34 years of education in Newfoundland and Labrador celebration.”
“High five Keyin College for an incredible effort in this year’s Shave for the Brave campaign.  Your sacrifice of hair and support of our cause will help us change the lives of young adults dealing with cancer”, said Geoff Eaton, Executive Director of Young Adult Cancer Canada.
The effort does not end here as two of Keyin’s campuses in Carbonear and Clarenville will take part in additional, standalone events in May with the proceeds also going to Young Adult Cancer Canada.
Background:  Keyin College was founded in 1980 with a goal of providing quality education to Newfoundlanders and Labradorians and has seen over 30,000 students graduate over the 34 year period.  The many community efforts of Keyin College staff and students help teach the value of giving back to the community while deriving educational value from the efforts.
