Yesterday, we announced the suspension of in-class instruction and the closure of Keyin College campuses to students across the province. This closure is effective as of today, March 17, 2020, as a measure to protect the health of students, staff, and the entire Keyin College family. In doing this, we also committed to providing an update on next steps, and more information about how programming would be delivered moving forward.

We know your education is important to you and your future, so we are working quickly to ensure that your training can continue with minimal disruption. To do this, we are developing a new online program delivery model for many of our programs, supported by the use of “Microsoft Teams” to make programs available to you online through the use of a desktop computer, laptop, tablet or even a smart phone. NOTE: “Microsoft Teams” is an online platform that will enable our students to learn from their instructors online versus in the classroom.

This week, our Keyin instructors are receiving the training they need to begin rolling out online programs to students starting Tuesday, March 24, 2020. Please note that not all programs will restart next Tuesday. The first program scheduled to begin online is Child and Youth Care Worker. As that program commences, we will be preparing the other online programs over the days and weeks that follow. Notifications will be provided to all students as actual start dates are confirmed. As we progress over the coming weeks, you can expect to see regular email updates from us, outlining online course start dates and times, and other helpful information to get you started.

To get these online solutions up and running, there are two key actions all Keyin students must complete:

  1. Keyin email set-up. Tomorrow, you should be provided with a Keyin.com email address and temporary password. When you receive this notification, please set the email up using the instructions provided. It is through this email address that we will provide you with regular updates, online course instructions and support, and other important information. If you haven’t been provided an email address by end of day tomorrow or are encountering any issues, please contact craigdyer@keyin.com
  2. Microsoft Teams set-up. Over the next two days, you will also be provided with instructions on how to access Microsoft Teams, our e-Learning platform. This platform will allow you to login and participate in online classes, view presentations, and send real-time messages to your instructor with questions or comments.

Please get set up on both your Keyin email account and Microsoft Teams no later than Friday, March 20th, to ensure you don’t miss out on important information and preparation for online courses as they begin to roll-out next week.

Update for ABE Students
We are also in the process of developing a learning solution that will enable our ABE students to continue their studies from home during this period of campus closures. Please be assured that we are working diligently to provide this solution at the earliest possible date.

For all students, please anticipate daily updates on our Keyin.com website, our Facebook page and direct email pertaining to ongoing communication.

As Keyin College transitions into the online delivery of programs, you will continue to receive the same quality of education you’ve come to expect from us. We have been working hard to make this process as seamless as possible, recognizing there are always improvements that can be made along the way. It is our commitment to address your questions and any concerns as we embark on this new journey in the days and weeks ahead. During this time should you require academic, technical, or other support, we are here for you. We are all in this together!

Sincerely,

Craig Tucker
President
